Green, Red and Orange Pepper

Pepper is an empty fruit of herbaceous plant that receives its same name. It belongs to the Solanaceae family and, in particular, to the Capsicum type. The pepper plant originates in Mexico, Bolivia and Peru, where besides the Capsicumannuum L. there at least four other species cultivated.

The introduction of pepper in Europe was an important progress in the culinary costumes because they were used to complement a very popular spice, black pepper. In fact, it was even replaced. Its consumption in Europe dates back to several centuries. However, the varieties of large, soft, slightly spicy peppers currently consumed were achieved through intensive cultivation in the early 20th century.
