Paraguayo

Prunuspersica var. platycarpa, most known as Paraguay, is specie of Prunus kind, with a peach-like fruit but flattened shape. It originates from a mutation of a peach tree.

Paraguay is the result of a mutation originated in China, being introduced in the United States in 1869. It is mainly cultivated in temperate regions and has soil requirements similar to peach and nectarine cultivation.

There are different varieties of Paraguay: white pulp with or without green or red streaks, yellow pulp, fully or partially detached from the seed.
