Batavia Lettuce

It is extraordinarily polymorphic specie in colours (green, yellow, purple), textures (crunchy, butteryhead, batavias) and different leaf shapes. The leaves have a sweet flavour and are consumed raw. It can be cultivated and consumed throughout a whole year. The Batavia lettuce is semi-crunchy, creating rounded and compact sprouts; leaves are curly and appreciated in the North. This lettuce prefers temperate and wet climates. There are varieties suitable for cultivation in various weather conditions, areas and seasons during a year.
