Tangerine is a fruit of a mandarin tree belonging to the Rutaceae family, with characteristics similar to an orange, though smaller and more delicate. This family contains over 1,600 species. In addition, the botanic Citrus kind, which includes this fruit is the most important of the family and consists of about 20 species with edible fruits, all very rich in vitamin C, flavonoids and essential oils. The fruits, called Hesperides, have the peculiarity that its peel is formed by numerous vesicles full of juice. The tangerine is considered a citric more related to orange. Its small size, its aromatic flavour and ease of removing their peel, make this fruit one of the most appreciated.
