Chinese Cabbage

It is a native vegetable of the Far East. Its seeds were found in Neolithic excavations of Banpo settlements. It was cultivated in China over 1,500 years ago, from where it arrived to Japan in the late 19th century. In recent years, its consumption and production have undergone a progressive diffusion to the countries of Europe and America. It was part of the culinary diet of the Southern Chinese in the 15th century.
